ORCHESTRA JOINS PETER RABBIT FOR TOWN HALL EXTRAVAGANZA

Beatrix Potter fans can look forward to the family event of the year at Town Hall Birmingham next month.

The Orchestra of the Swan has teamed up with popular children's TV presenter Lorna Laidlaw to present a magical musical morning with Peter Rabbit and his Friends.

Children will be able to listen to Beatrix Potter tales and take part in a sing-along with the orchestra, Associate Artists at the Town Hall, on Saturday, March 5 at 11am.

Lorna Laidlaw will be narrating the wonderful tales of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck to Stephen McNeff's beautiful suite performed by Orchestra of the Swan.

The orchestra will also deliver workshops to hundreds of children that enable the youngsters to explore the stories and the music by learning some of the songs and finding out how the orchestral instruments contribute.

Family tickets for the event are available priced at just £18* for four people to include at least one adult from http://www.thsh.co.uk/ or by calling 0121 780 3333.

David Curtis, Artistic Director of Orchestra of the Swan, said: “We are delighted to be presenting this wonderful family concert, the latest in a series of community activities aimed at interesting more and more young people in classical music.”

Paul Keene, Director of Programming for Town Hall & Symphony Hall, added, “Family events are a vital part of our programming and our inexpensive, monthly series of children’s events is a great way to introduce youngsters to a wide variety of music – from classical to Bollywood.”
