Wolverhampton Steam + Vintage Rally - West Park + Parade through City Centre: Saturday 4th + Sunday 5th June 2011

Once again the organising committee have found a great cross section of exhibits and attractions to entertain all members of the family around the park. They have collected together a fine display of Traction Engines, Motor cycles, Stationary Engines and Models of equipment of times gone by.

Don't miss the working area showing how things were traditionally done in times gone by. Please feel free to talk to the owners and exhibitors; they like to hear of your experiences when working similar equipment.

Other attractions will include a giant modern day funfair, trade stalls, a craft marquee and a vintage funfair. The show will be open from 11am till 5pm both days and admission is free.

If you cannot attend the rally in the park, look out for the Steam & Vintage Parade through the City on Saturday 4th June leaving West Park at 12 noon.

Great attractions include...

West Midlands Fire Services

West Midlands Fire Services are a voluntary organisation who bring displays and demonstrations to the general public, taking the serious topic of road and home safety and making it fun for all to learn about.

Highlights of their visit will include a re-enactments of road traffic collisions and chemical incidents with the possibility (scrap car availability allowing) of an overturned vehicle enactment involving the use of the jaws of life to remove the roof.

Members will demonstrate what it means to be a 'retained fireman/woman', whereby you have to get from your bed, workplace, sofa etc. to the station, into full gear and out of the station on an appliance in just 6 minutes!

There will also be a demonstration of the effects of drink driving.

The crew encourage volunteers from members of the public to be 'victims' in their enactments and further involve their audience with 'Kiddie Squirts' which, on a hot day will involve inviting children to get soaked by the fire hoses. On cooler days children will be encouraged to use the hoses themselves to squirt trees!

West Midlands Fire Service Preservation Society

All in all there will be an array of vintage appliances in attendance including a Studebaker Fire Truck (1950) and several fully functional working appliances.

King's Court Dancers

Making a welcome return to the festival the dancers will be on stage again to perform popular dances such as The Can Can.

Maggie O'Hara - 'The Victory Years'

Maggie will be performing her 1940s tribute show, 'The Victory Years', providing a nostalgic soundtrack to the proceedings and entertaining the crowds with old favourites.

Maggie has vast experience in theatre, television, cabaret, production shows, concerts, conferences, large-scale outdoor events, clubs and private functions both here in Britain and abroad. Maggie is regarded as a top class professional.

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight

On Sunday 5th the rally will see a fly-over as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
