Midlands British Asparagus Festival proves value for second year running

Next month's British Asparagus Festival in Evesham, Worcestershire looks set to be a popular event once again, having been nominated for a national competition for the second time.

Lovers of the British vegetable on caravan holidays in the Midlands next month will have little excuse for missing the festival, which is through to the regional finals of the Where Else But England Awards for the second consecutive year.

Taking place between April 23rd and June 21st, the packed schedule promises entertainment for the whole family - including asparagus spear throwing, the Great English Asparagus Run and asparagus themed exhibitions featuring art and historical information.

Commenting on reaching the award regional finals, queen of Worcestershire asparagus Angela Tidmarsh explained: "We'd really like to win it this year and, apart from Shropshire's Festival At The Edge, the British Asparagus Festival is the only representative for rural West Midlands.

"It's also a great event to encourage visitors to the county so people should vote as it's good for Worcestershire businesses too."
