Screen Forum Digishorts to showcase the best filmmaking talent in the Midlands

Light House Media Centre in Wolverhampton, in partnership with Screen WM and the UK Film Council, brings you 6 short films from some of the best filmakers and animators from the West Midlands during the Screen Forum: Digishorts event on Tue 5 April. The event will take place from 7 – 9.30pm with networking opportunities in Lock Works café bar. Admission is free. To reserve a place email ayesha@light-house.co.uk.

Digishorts is a scheme which has been organised by Screen WM over the past 8 years, offering filmakers and animators in the West Midlands a chance to produce short films and showcase them to audiences across the region. In its eighth and final year, the slate of films produced demonstrate regional fiilmmaking at its strongest. There will be a chance to network with the filmmakers in Lock Works Café Bar from 7-8pm before the film screening, and then again after the screening.

The films being shown are:

Copier (Dir. Samantha Harrie) A girl discovers a photocopier which can make real life versions of anything and tries to use it to solve her troubled family problems.

Best (Dir. Steven Spencer) An innovative animated re-telling of the troubled life of George Best.

Luv’in the Black Country (Dir. Matthew Carter) A documentary set on the canals of the Black Country inviting people to talk about the first time they fell in love.

Rolling Steel (Dir. Kyle Simpson) A fast paced Birmingham set drama looking at how a gun can fall into different hands with dangerous and surprising consequences.

50 (Dir. Ryan Vernava) Tensions flare on the last bus home from town in this gritty urban drama.

All Consuming Love ( Man in a Cat) (Dir. Louis Hudson) An animated love story centring on a man who lives inside the head of a cat.
