Social enterprise award

Dear Colleague,

You may or may not be aware of PwCs private business awards so I thought I would drop a quick note around. PwC have launched the Private Business Awards to celebrate the success and contribution of private companies to the UK economy. We want to highlight the activities of some of the amazing and often unsung local companies. This includes a category for Social enterprise of the year award which I have copied details of below in case your organisation/ an organisation you work with would like to consider nomination.

Social Enterprise of the Year Award: Social enterprises are businesses driven by a social or environmental purpose, and in the UK today there are in excess of 60,000, contributing over £24bn to the economy. As with all businesses, they compete to deliver goods and services, but what makes social enterprises different is that social purpose is at the very heart of what they do, and the profits they make are reinvested in the business (or the community) towards achieving that purpose. The Social Enterprise of the year will have demonstrated good solid progress against all its key performance indicators.

More details are included on the website http://www.privatebusinessawards.com/home/ if you are interested or want more details and the nomination process concludes on 29 April 2011. Please feel free to forward this to any other organisations you think may find it of interest.

Kind regards

Judi
