Keeping the Past Alive: Heritage Week in Stafford

Stafford Castle is hosting a week of fun activity for local schoolchildren throughout the week beginning Monday 6 June.

Young visitors will get the chance to try out a range of traditional building techniques in and around the Visitor Centre. Activities include willow weaving and timber framed construction. The project is available to youngsters from special schools and a number are taking the opportunity to try out the activities from their wheelchairs.

The event forms part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project organised by Stafford Borough Council in partnership with Staffordshire Education Business Partnership. 

Heritage Sites Manager for Stafford Borough Council Mark Hartwell said: “The project is designed to be exciting and interesting for the youngsters taking part. We aim is to provide a fun environment in which they will learn both historic facts and traditional craft skills.”
