Solihull Set for Tourism Success

Local tourism stakeholders are encouraged to attend the next Solihull Tourism Forum, taking place on Tuesday 28 June, betwen 2pm and 4pm, at the Holiday Inn, Solihull Town Centre.

The Forum, co-ordinated by Solihull Council, aims to bring businesses together with an interest in developing the local tourism economy and raising Solihull’s profile within the wider area.

Attended by local retailers, restaurants, hotels, guest houses and attractions, priorities of the group are around driving footfall to the area, sharing intelligence and developing packages for visitors to extend both business and leisure tourism stays.

A recent development through the Forum has been the launch of a new destination website for Solihull, www.visitsolihull.com, that offers a platform in which to promote local businesses, offers and events happening throughout the Borough.

Andrew Cole, General Manager at the Ramada Solihull and Chair of the Forum, commented:

"The Tourism Forum represents a wide range of interests within the local economy, from accommodation providers to independent retailers and we are working together to ensure that Solihull is put on the visitor destination map."

Councillor Ian Courts, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: "The Borough has so much to offer local visitors, including a thriving town centre and a great deal of heritage and places of interest. We are keen to ensure that we maximise these opportunities and encourage interested local businesses to get involved."
