A welcoming new sign

Solihull Park Rangers have joined together with three local schools to design and build a fabulous new welcome sign for Langley Hall Park in Olton.

The project all started in February 2011 when the Park Rangers joined forces with the Student Council of Langley Junior, Langley Infant and Reynolds Cross School to launch an inspiring competition for the pupils to design a ‘woodland’ themed design.

From the six winning designs, chosen by the Student Councils, the Park Rangers set to work to bring all the final creations to life in an elaborate mosaic welcome sign.

The finished masterpiece was unveiled by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Irene Chamberlain, on Thursday 14 July at Langley Hall Park School.

Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said: “The pupils of all three schools have done a superb job in designing this mosaic and the Park Rangers have worked in great partnership with the Student Councils to ensure that visitors to Langley Hall Park are greeted with a beautifully designed local piece of art.

“I would like to thank all involved in the success of this project for their hard work and determination and I hope that many more inspirational art projects will follow.”
