Dance fever grips the nation once again as Strictly Coming Dancing returns to our screens. Now, following its phenomenal success in London’s West End last summer, BURN THE FLOOR, a high octane Ballroom and Salsa extravaganza, continues the theme when it visits Birmingham Hippodrome from Tuesday 25 – Saturday 29 October as part of just a two venue visit to the UK this autumn.

BURN THE FLOOR is a breathtaking blend of Latin and Ballroom dance first conceived as a special performance at Sir Elton John’s 50th birthday celebration in 1997. Two years later, the show made its world premiere in the UK before taking the globe by storm.

14 years on the show is still going strong with worldwide sell-out tours showcasing its extraordinary blend of traditional & contemporary dance. Featuring a sensational mix of musical styles performed live with 2 stunning vocalists, BURN THE FLOOR is a visual feast showing an exquisite level of dance expertise and experience, from the opening number right through to the moment the curtain drops.

The show’s global success is owed greatly to Director and Choreographer Jason Gilkison. His extraordinary creativity and much needed calm under pressured has helped place BURN THE FLOOR as the world’s most successful and best loved dance show, having toured to over 40 countries globally.

Jason’s talent has seen him head hunted by the BBC to cast his choreography magic on this autumn’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. Personally working with the celebrities and professional partners Jason has been spending countless training hours tailoring and perfecting the dazzling performances we’ll witness on BBC1 on Saturday nights.

Arguably, the key component in creating the standard of excellence in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, there are currently four former Burn The Floor cast members starring in the prime time show, including Strictly reigning Champion and boyfriend of actress Kara Tointon Artem Chigvintsev, Robin Windsor, Natalie Lowe plus new addition Pascha Kovalev, who is joining the cast this autumn following a number of years working intensely with the International dance sensation. Fellow alumni Anya Garnis & Tristan MacManus shone in rival US dance show ‘Dancing With The Stars’, whilst former colleagues Ashleigh Di Lello & husband Ryan were strong competitors in the popular US dance competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ – even Cheryl Cole’s alleged ex-boyfriend Derek Hough graced the Burn the Floor stage when it hit Broadway in 2009! Cementing Burn the Floor’s reputation as the breeding ground for TV dance talent on both sides of the Atlantic.

Birmingham Hippodrome will be the first venue in the UK to host the current tour of BURN THE FLOOR before it transfers to Bradford where it then leaves to tour the USA.

BURN THE FLOOR is produced by Harley Medcalf, Joe Watson, and Peter Grey Terhune with Richard Levi, Richard Frankel, Tom Viertel, Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Raise the Roof One, Toppall/Stevens/Mills, Benigno/Klein, Caldwell/Allen, Carrpailet/Danzansky, Bud Martin, The Production Studio, Schaffert/Schnuck.
