Destitution & Development Manager

Narthex Sparkhill, a faith based a charity set up by St John’s Church, has been awarded a 5 year grant, funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, to establish and run a food bank in Sparkhill Birmingham.

Narthex Centre provides services to support people in crisis, of all ages, faiths and ethnic origin in the deprived Sparkhill, Sparkbrook and Springfield areas of Birmingham.

The heart of our work is to improve the quality of life for people through the provision of social welfare, recreation, education and personal development.

As a part of this grant we are seeking to employ a full time Destitution & Development Manager.

To provide a whole person response to the needs of people who are destitute or in crisis. To attract the resources needed to continue to develop the work of the Narthex project and to secure ongoing sustainable funding.

We are looking for a dynamic person who can oversee the setup of the food bank, manage staff & volunteers while also developing sustainable funding and resources. To work alongside the Project Director to cultivate individual and corporate resources. You will need a willingness to work in a multi ethnic multi faith area, be part of the public face of a grassroots community organisation with a passion for people in crisis and ability to champion the cause of the destitute. The post holder will need to be sympathetic to the Christian ethos of Narthex projects.

Salary: £22,450.00 per annum
