WMEN: Invitation to attend a workshop on equal opportunities on 22 Sep 2011

Does your organisation play a role in promoting the principles of equal opportunities…

OR do you think it is ‘somebody else’s job’?

WMEN is holding a half-day session Mainstreaming Equal Opportunities in Your Organisation to raise awareness about the relationship between European funding and the UK Equalities Act 2010. We have designed this workshop to be a balanced mixture – setting the big picture, explaining policy requirements and giving practical advice that you can take back to your organisation. Regardless of the funding stream, organisations are required to demonstrate that they comply with UK legislation and that equal opportunities principles, strategies and practice are integrated into their daily activities.

We have put together a stimulating and informative programme and have secured the contribution from the following presenters:

Jagdish Singh-Shemare, Equalities and Human Rights Commission, will explain the essential details of the UK Equalities Act 2010, Human Rights and how your organisation can comply with the current legislation

Rights & Fairness Telford will challenge organisations to look at new ways of developing good relationship and partnership working between all the sectors of the community in trying to eliminate discrimination and promote equality of opportunity

Focus Enterprises will demonstrate how they are addressing and mainstreaming equal opportunities within their ERDF funded project EASED “Enabling Access to Self Employment for the Disabled”

This workshop is relevant to Third Sector organisations in receipt of European Funding, organisations considering a role as sub-contractor to the ESF DWP programmes and those keen to develop their equalities good practice.
