How would you spend £500,000 in Shirley Park?

If you had £500,000 to spend on Shirley Park, what would you do with it? That’s exactly what Solihull Council is asking residents.

As part of the Shirley Advance Parkgate development, the Council has half a million pounds to spend on improvements to Shirley Park, which are due to take place in early 2013.

Before deciding how that money should be spent, Warwickshire Wildlife Trust is running a consultation on behalf of the Council.

This consultation is a refresher of a previous consultation carried out in 2007, which followed the original decision to grant planning permission for development in Shirley.

As well as Wildlife Trust staff being in the park on certain days, there is also a consultation display in Shirley Library until Thursday 1 March where people can feedback their views.

Councillor Mrs Diana Holl-Allen, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said: “We are very proud of our parks and would love to hear how residents would like us to spend this money in Shirley. Please get involved and share your views with us.”

Wildlife Trust staff will be in Shirley Park from 1-4pm on Wednesday 22 February and all day on Thursday 23 February, while people can also share their views at Shirley Library until Thursday 1 March.
