BIRMINGHAM SETTLEMENT BIKE IT TO BRUSSELS

This morning Martin Holcombe and Mark Sargent from The Birmingham Settlement left on their gruelling six day bike ride from Birmingham to Brussels in order to raise funds for their charity.
Having only just recovered from the London to Paris cycle in 2012, these intrepid fundraisers are off again, despite anticipating the pain!

“It’s 500 miles in total, so we know it's going to hurt,” says Chief Executive Martin Holcombe, “so we’d be hugely grateful if people could spare a few pennies (or pounds!) to speed us on our way. Every penny will help the Settlement in our projects that support people facing isolation and/or exclusion throughout the city. I’d urge them to be bold, knowing their contributions will make a huge difference!!”

After a treat of Belgian Buns, everyone was waved off from the Centre for the Aston Family. The mens’ route was then planned to cover 80 - 90 miles per day, taking them through Oxford, London and Amsterdam, to finally reach Brussels on Saturday 26th May 2012.
