CHEF HAS STAR APPEAL

Lorenzo with the cast and crew of Channel 4’s Renovation Game

The culinary skills of an award-winning Worcestershire chef are proving to be increasingly popular with hungry celebrities. Lorenzo Richards, who studied at Birmingham’s College of food and learned practical skills working at Rustie Lee’s Caribbean Restaurant during his college years, now runs a successful concept restaurant of his own, on the outskirts of Bromsgrove – The Wildmoor Oak.

In February Lorenzo provided the onsite catering for the cast and crew of Channel 4’s Renovation Game, when they were filming in Bromsgrove.

The show, in its second series, is presented by Jonnie Irwin and Simon Obrien. With the help of a team of builders and designer, the crew put their own fees on the line if their renovation work fails to raise the value of a property. The episode filmed in Bromsgrove will be shown on Channel 4 later this year.

“The crew were working long days to a very tight schedule and had to fit in meal times as and when they could,’ says Lorenzo. “I was never quite sure when I’d get the call to head down with a tasty lunch or dinner.”

Lorenzo is no stranger to cooking up a treat for stars of the big and small screen. Last year the cast of BBC1’s Hustle turned up at The Wildmoor Oak, to take a break from filming series 8 in Birmingham. Prior to establishing The Wildmoor Oak Lorenzo had also cooked at Elstree Studios in London, preparing meals for many celebrities and actors including the cast of the BBC’s Eastenders.

Astro, of UB40 fame, a regular diner at The Wildmoor Oak says “Lorenzo’s food is just like Lorenzo himself – appealing, sometimes flamboyant and always professionally presented.”
