Employees at Selco Builders Warehouse vote to support leading cancer charity

Selco Builders Warehouse has today announced their plans to work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to help raise vital funds for the charity.

Selco, who are based in Kings Norton in Birmingham with 30 branches across England and Wales, with more new branches opening this year, asked all staff across the network to vote for their chosen charity in their company magazine. Over half of Selco staff voted from a shortlist of five charities, and 39% of the votes received were for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The company aim to raise over £100,000 for Macmillan over the next two years, having already raised over £20,000 through a charity auction and raffle, and also plan to hold a number of charity activities in branches to help reach their target.

“Macmillan is a fantastic charity to support and with the increasing number of people affected by cancer it is an illness that sadly impacts many of us,” says Selco’s Managing Director, Chris Cunliffe.

“We’ve set a target of raising over £100,000 over the next two years and have made a great start with our auction and raffle. We’re looking forward to supporting this great charity over the next two years and I’m sure we’ll have some fun raising money.”

“Two million people are currently living with cancer, and at the moment, we are reaching half of them, but we want to reach them all, and with the help of companies like Selco, we can achieve our goal.

“All the money raised from the partnership will help to provide practical, emotional, medical, and of course financial assistance to people affected by cancer. We are really excited to start working with Selco’s staff, customers and suppliers and welcoming them all to our team.”
