Kenny Ball & his Jazzmen

Flying the flag for traditional Jazz for over forty years, Kenny Ball returns to Solihull Arts Complex on Friday 20 July for what will no doubt be an exhilirating performance.

It is a tribute to their stamina and musical integrity that Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen are as popular today as they were back in 1960 when they had their first Chart Hit with 'Samantha'.

With a tally of fourteen top thirty records, Kenny eclipses even his idol the great Louis Armstrong’s total. This achievement has never been equalled by any other jazz artist and Kenny’s hits include 'Midnight in Moscow', which reached number two in the US billboard top 100 and UK singles chart.

The band’s popularity was enhanced further by its four year spell on the Morecambe and Wise show and Saturday Night at the Mill, both of which were viewed by millions. They also performed at the wedding reception of Princess Charles and Lady Diana in 1981.

Like Louis Armstrong, Kenny believes in making jazz attractive to the general public and festival promoters have re-discovered his crowd-pulling strength. With over 200 dates a year he continues to appeal to both old and young audiences.

Tickets for the performance, which begins at 7.30 pm, cost £19. To book, visit www.solihullartscomplex.co.uk or call the Box Office on 0121 704 6962.
