Kids to try Olympic sports in packed summer hols programme for Stafford

Taster sessions in Olympics sports will be on offer to children this summer as part of a packed programme of activities. Stafford Borough Council will be marking London 2012 celebrations with their summer Get Out programme.

There will be taster sessions in sports which will be highlighted during the Games this summer - such as badminton, gymnastics, handball, basketball, rowing and triathlon. Youngsters will also be able to take part in the usual exciting holiday activities.

And to stay with the London 2012 theme there will be a variety of sports to try in July and August, including an Olympic ‘swim clinic,’ at Alleyne’s Sports Centre in Stone, and an Olympic Legends day at Stafford Castle.

Free swimming for children 16 years and under is also available every weekday during the holidays from 10am to 11am at Stafford Leisure Centre and at Alleyne’s - except for bank holiday Monday - from 11am to 12noon and 2.45pm to 3.45pm.

Pre-booking and parental consent is required for most of the sessions.

For a full list of activities and online bookings during the school holidays go to or pick up a Get Out Summer Holiday brochure available from the Visitor Information Centre in Eastgate Street, Stafford.
