The Hummingbirds: Michael Kountis, Jay Davies, Rich Smith,
Ryan Lewis and Matty Brougham
A talented young Liverpool band backed by England soccer star Wayne Rooney is aiming to score with live music lovers at Birmingham's Jam House.
The Hummingbirds, who have stormed on to the music scene with their infectious Merseybeat sound, gained worldwide attention late month when the footballer and his wife Colleen 'tweeted' that they were one of their favourite groups.
The five-strong band, whose own songs and music are influenced by the likes of The Beatles, The Byrds and Bob Dylan, will be playing acoustically in support of fellow Liverpool band The Christians at the St Paul's Square venue on Thursday, August 2.
Garry Christian, lead vocalist with The Christians, said: “I first met The Hummingbirds at a festival and was impressed by the talent and commitment of this group of lads who only in their late teens and early 20s yet produce all their own songs and music.
“I insisted that The Hummingbirds should support us at the Jam House – after which we are planning to go into the recording studio with them.”
Tickets to enjoy an evening with The Hummingbirds and The Christians at The Jam House in St Paul's Square, Birmingham are available priced at £5 (plus 10% booking fee) by clicking on www.thejamhouse.com.
