The Good Food Guide Asks: Is the Nation’s Favourite Restaurant in the Midlands?

As The Good Food Guide opens nominations for its esteemed Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards, the question on the lips of every food-loving member of the public is – will the nation’s favourite restaurant be found in the Midlands?

To be in with a chance of a restaurant from the Midlands clinching the coveted title of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year, anyone who loves to eat out in the region should start nominating their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés from Monday 4th February 2013.

The Good Food Guide’s revered awards champion local eateries and recognise great food and service from across the UK, with the criteria that restaurants must be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible(1). Ten regional winners will be announced from the public nominations(2) before The Good Food Guide judges crown their overall Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014(3).

Diners in the Midlands can nominate their favourite restaurants online at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/awards or by submitting a postcard, available in participating restaurants(4) during the nomination period - 4th February until 14th April 2013. Everyone who submits a nomination will also be entered into a free prize draw for a delicious meal for two at the winning restaurant in their area(5).

Last year’s awards saw an impressive 44,500 members of the public nominating their favourite restaurants, with The Bluebell in Henley-in-Arden winning the crown of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for the Midlands.

Restaurant owners, Duncan & Leigh Taylor, said of winning last year’s award: ‘We are thrilled to have won the Restaurant of The Year for The Midlands, particularly so as this is voted for by the people that matter most to us – our diners.  We’ve got a great team here at The Bluebell and some superb local suppliers and they all thoroughly deserve this recognition - a big thank you to them and to all that voted for us.’

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor, The Good Food Guide, says: ‘The dining-out public are at the heart of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards and we are looking forward to hearing from everyone in the Midlands about where they love to eat out. So get nominating - let’s celebrate all the great restaurants the area has to offer and let them know we appreciate them!’

The ten regional winners(6) will be announced at the end of May and the overall winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year award will be announced in late June.
