Solihull prepares for by-election of new Police and Crime Commissioner

Poll cards will be issued to Solihull residents this week for the by-election of a new West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, following the death of Bob Jones.

The by-election takes place on Thursday 21 August across Solihull and six other local authority areas of the West Midlands. Candidates standing for election will be announced on Monday 28 July.

Residents who are registered to vote are encouraged to check their polling cards carefully before voting, as some of our normal polling stations are not being used this time due to maintenance works.

To be able to vote residents must ensure they are on the electoral roll. The deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday 5 August.

If people wish to vote by post, applications need to be with the Council by no later than 5pm on Wednesday 6 August.

Residents unable to get to their polling station can apply for a proxy vote and nominate someone to go to the polling station and vote on their behalf. The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 13 August.
