BCMG presents a programme of hands-on musical fun
for Family Arts Festival
· BCMG running a number of events for all the family
The nationwide Family Arts Festival returns this October half-term, aimed at encouraging all members of the family to enjoy and participate in arts and culture together.
BCMG are running a number of special family musical events to mark the occasion.
Musicadoodle-do is a free drop-in creative music and drawing workshop, held on 29 and 30 October in a unique collaboration between BCMG, Ikon Gallery and the Library of Birmingham. Parents and children alike can spend the afternoon creating their own graphic scores for BCMG musicians to perform and drawing pictures inspired by the sounds of the players.
The Family Music Maze workshop on 28 October is a free event for 8-11 year olds where they can create music with an older family member. Participants will draw their own graphic scores which will then be performed by themselves, their families and the professional BCMG musicians.
Jeremy Clay, BCMG Learning Co-ordinator, commented, “Family audiences are incredibly important to BCMG and we work hard to devise workshops and days out which work for both children and adults alike. Music is such a great shared experience, full of fun and creativity.”
The Family Arts Festival is a nationwide event taking place during the October half-term holidays. Last year over 2000 events took place across the UK. For more information on the 2014 Family Arts Festival visit www.familyartsfestival.com
