It’s the final countdown to Worcester’s unmissable Show! We’ll give you a flavour of what’s on offer.
Now in its tenth successive year, this popular annual event is coming to Gheluvelt Riverside Park in Barbourne on Sunday 16 August – and this year it’s bigger and better than ever.
The 2015 Show has even more Floral, Cakes & Preserves and Handicraft competition classes, with many more Fun and Creative categories for all ages to enter.
“Whether you have entered your prized flowers, vegetables, culinary masterpieces, photographs or crafts, want to try out a new sport or simply want to wander through the stalls, listen to live music and soak up the atmosphere, the Worcester Show is the place for the whole family to be!” said Worcester City Council’s Community Engagement Supervisor, Michelle Newell.
Get active at the Worcester Show
New for this year is a vastly expanded Sports Zone, offering plenty of activities for all ages throughout the day. Several local sports clubs, including Worcester City FC, Worcester Table Tennis League and Boughton Park Tennis Club will be providing opportunities for visitors to take part in their respective sports.
Worcestershire County Cricket Club are hosting soft ball ‘come and have a go’ cricket activities and there will be rowing machine demonstrations by Worcester Rowing Club.
If you have ever wanted to ride a race horse, then come and try out Worcester Racecourse’s marvellous equiciser mechanical horse! Also, don’t miss demonstrations by local club Flics Gymnastics throughout the day, in the main arena.
There will be a huge array of craft stalls, packed with creations made by local people – and also a bar, food from around the globe and beverages to suit all tastes.
Don’t miss demonstrations from award winning breadmaker Janice Bell, cake icing supremo Heather Sweet, or burger maker Carl Sampson!
Expert gardening advice on hand
Renowned gardening presenters Reg Moule and Mike George on hand for a Gardeners’ Question Time.
This year, six societies will be at the Show – including the South Worcester Bonsai Society, Worcester Bee Keepers, Worcester Society of Artists, Worcester Cactus Society, Alpine Garden Society, Worcester Allotment Forum and ‘United in Knitting’ group.
