Financial support on offer for sports talent in Worcester



Sport Worcester, an organisation grant-aided by Worcester City Council, is offering grants of up to £500 to local sports clubs and awards of up to £300 to talented sporting individuals. 
 
Talented tennis player Georgina Jeynes Cupper, who represented Worcestershire in the under-18s, under-16s and under-14s County Cup last season, was recently awarded £300 by Sport Worcester towards the purchase of new tennis equipment.  She is currently the highest ranked female tennis player in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
 
Local Fencing supremo Abigail Watkins and Sian Bobrowska, an accomplished Judo enthusiast, were also both recently awarded £300 by Sport Worcester.
 
ASPIE, a Worcester self-help and motivation group for adults with Asperger’s  Syndrome, was awarded £225 in the summer to assist a climbing group.
 
Grants to clubs must be used to increase standards, develop the club, increase participation or purchase equipment.  Grants to individuals are to help them in their pursuit of elite performance.
